Project Manager

About the Role:
Gyron is a rapidly growing part of NTT, the world’s largest telecommunications service provider, and provides highly resilient and energy efficient datacentre services, supporting business critical IT applications for customers such as Adobe, Salesforce, Sky, Sony, Spotify and IBM, from five state-of-the-art datacentre facilities in the South East of England.

Based at Campus in Hemel Hempstead and reporting to the Programme Director you will be responsible for the successful delivery of in-life Datacentre M&E, small-works projects in existing operational datacentres.  Managing all aspects across the full project-lifecycle including time, quality & cost with an emphasis on H&S and customer service.

This role is suited to an individual with experience in complex and mission critical facilities, specifically in operational datacentres.

Specifically, you will:

  • Plan and manage on a day to day basis, all resources, activities, work packages and deliverables needed to achieve the required project objectives, working across all internal functions (technical design, commercial and operational etc.) and external contractors / suppliers. 
  • Apply focus, resource and priority to plan and drive closure.
  • Ensure the necessary resources are in place to deliver the projects internally and with external suppliers / contractors. Pro-actively identify, track, manage and resolve all related issues, risks, dependencies, assumptions, actions and changes. 
  • Collate and review method statements and risk assessments, and highlight any risks that are apparent from a Health and Safety and Business Continuity perspective.
  • Produce and maintain all required project related documentation such as PIDs, Plans, Project Logs, Reports etc.
  • Provide timely, clear, accurate and consistent progress reporting to all stakeholders, including summary reporting at Director level. Where required, participate in client facing project reviews and updates, building confidence and trust in the successful delivery of the project.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders to ensure ongoing alignment of the project within the wider programme and business context. Create and maintain a positive team environment, working collaboratively with the PMO, other functions and with the contractors / suppliers. 

 

Required Experience:

  • Previous site-based Project Management experience in the construction and delivery of mission critical Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Datacentre or other mission critical experience preferable (including a working knowledge of generator, UPS, switchgear, HVAC and fire detection / suppression systems).
  • Experience in managing project constraints, priorities and key milestones.
  • Extensive experience in the effective management of multiple contractors across the full project lifecycle, from RFP, through installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Working in a dynamic and growing project management environment. 
  • Relevant qualification & in-depth knowledge of health and safety within the construction industry including the CDM regulations.

  • Working in an existing operational datacentre poses challenges and problems not seen during a new build project. You will pride yourself in your ability to improve legacy facilities whilst maintaining uptime, increasing efficiencies with as little impact on the client organisation as possible.
  • A self-motivated individual who is resourceful, with the ability to build working relationships quickly and effectively. You must be a good team member/leader with excellent organisational, influencing, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Pro-active whilst meticulous - able to prioritise and deal with evolving needs, working at pace to very high quality, whilst having a keen eye for detail.
  • Comfortable working through ambiguity, bringing clarity and control in a dynamic environment. 
  • Possess excellent analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Commercially savvy – especially in relation to change control.
  • Ideally possess relevant project management qualifications (such as Prince2, etc).
  • Proficient in the use of project management tools such as Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, Microsoft Project etc. 
  • Excellent client facing skills, capable of managing client expectations to deliver projects on time and on budget. 
  • Possess accomplished and reliable risk management skills. 
  • Reliable, flexible, enthusiastic and hard working.
  • Possess a clean full UK driving licence.
  • Undergo full security checks to BS7858:2012.
