Data Center Support Technician

About the role:

Gyron is a rapidly growing part of NTT, the world’s largest telecommunications service provider, and provides highly resilient and energy efficient Data Centres services, supporting business critical IT applications for customers from five state-of-the-art datacentre facilities in the South East of England.  

This is a 1st line support position which is ideal for anyone looking to get into the IT industry. Our Technician will be exposed to a wide variety of technologies and will be expected to assist in the resolution of customer issues when needed. In addition to this, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to get involved with project work for some of the worlds most renowned IT companies. 

Hours:

4 on / 4 off shift pattern, alternating between days & nights including weekends, 365 day of the year. Each shift is 12 hours long. Day shift = 8am - 8pm and night shift = 8pm -8am with short shift handover.

Specifically you will:

  • Provide first line support (Being the first point of contact for all customer queries)
  • Data Hall management (Customer suites / racks)
  • Deliveries (Booking in and out)
  • Service provisioning (Unboxing, Installing, Cabling, Software configuration)
  • RMAs (Managed returns)
  • Stock checking
  • General NOC work (Responding to alarms and escalating where appropriate)
  • Reporting (Recording Power and Remote hands usage)
  • Following all documented Policies and Procedures and suggesting improvements where necessary.
  • Any other duties relevant to the position and the running of the company

Essential Experience:

  • General IT knowledge and enthusiasm to develop a career within the IT industry
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware 

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with Linux server operating systems and computer networks
  • Experience with computer hardware
  • Relevant IT qualifications an advantage 
  • Working in a shift pattern
