Critical Facilties Maintenance Engineer

About the role:
Gyron is a rapidly growing part of NTT, the world’s largest telecommunications service provider, and provides highly resilient and energy efficient datacentre services, supporting business critical IT applications for customers such as Adobe, Salesforce, Sky, Sony, Spotify and IBM, from five state-of-the-art datacentre facilities in the South East of England.

Plan, manage and implement the delivery of FM services to Datacentres ensuring operational performance is maintained at all times to the highest possible standards. Provide engineering services and guidance in general on property matters affecting the on-going management and development of the Datacentres.

As part of the critical FM team working day shift you will have the following duties:

  • Customer focused service.
  • High standard of planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Proactive involvement in the on-going technical evaluation of all plant and equipment, suggestion of improvements where appropriate.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance, statutory compliance tasks and reactive works investigations/repairs on, but not limited to, the Low & High Voltage electrical and Mechanical systems on site (dependent on skills development pathway)
  • Assist in the service, test, diagnose and repair process control systems and automatic control devices related to the building services plant and equipment
  • Working as directed to ensure timely completion of PPM’s and reactive work to SLA.
  • Identifying faults and accurately diagnosing root causes.
  • Monitoring and maintaining equipment performance to ensure correct operation of the critical services of the Datacentres.
  • Management of Site permit process. 
  • Assisting with incident management and subsequent investigation to establish root cause. 
  • Supporting the Shift Engineering Teams to ensure correct operation of the critical services of the Datacentres.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of accurate plant records, information and reporting systems.
  • You will have site sign off for works to take place and to accept successful completion ensuring all RA and MS and other technical sign off is in place prior to allowing works to take place. You will have the responsibility for ensuring all services are delivered to the highest technical standards, minimising risk.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring services are delivered in accordance with site and best practice processes and procedures

 

Required experience 

  • Working knowledge and understanding of engineering operations within Business-Critical Environments 
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • A flexible but non-comprising approach to service delivery 
  • Ability to discuss and understand technical problems and resolutions with engineering specialists.

 

Essential qualifications relevant to the role:

  • 18th Edition certified or similar electrical qualification
  • NVQ Level 1/2 or equivalent (including recognised apprenticeship) with either an electrical or mechanical or building services bias
