BMS Engineer

Gyron is a rapidly growing part of NTT, the world’s largest telecommunications service provider, and provides highly resilient and energy efficient Datacentre services, supporting business critical IT applications for customers from five state-of-the-art datacentre facilities in the South East of England.  

About the Role:

The role will require communicating and negotiating with most departments and subcontractors to ensure the smooth running of BMS systems across all buildings at all times.

You will be responsible for: 

Becoming an integral member of the BMS team responsible for all BMS related issues within Gyron

Providing assistance to all departments when extracting data from the BMS, presenting the data, and reporting

Providing 1st line BMS support across all departments and external contractors

Documenting procedures

Devising and maintain critical spares lists and advise what to purchase based on availability, likelihood of failure, etc

Training Gyron staff on BMS usage

Installing and aid testing of newly developed programming as directed by Gyron’s internal software team

Auditing BMS graphics and rectify any issues found

Performing routine service checks & PPM of the BMS across Gyron global infrastructure

Consolidating and improve all sites BMS to a common Gyron controlled database

Reading and understanding mechanical/electrical plans and wiring diagrams

Performing manufacturer upgrades to maintain a fully functional BMS platform

Supporting the implementation of BMS being delivered to new datacentres

Ongoing optimisation of BMS system for monitoring and information reporting to stakeholders

Analysing and correcting communication issues

Coordinating work with other trades (i.e.: Electrical, Mechanical, FM teams etc)

Supervising maintenance work on BMS and ensuring maintenance activities meet required standards

Monitoring the performance of existing systems and making appropriate adjustments, in agreement with the Technical Department

About you:

To be considered for this role, you will need to:

Have previous operational experience in a BMS technician / commissioning engineer role

Strong working knowledge of Tridium Niagara AX or N4, including graphics

Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio

Experience working within a Datacentre or critical environment

Experience dealing with commercial clients

Have a full driving license valid for use in the UK

Willingness to travel to all Gyron sites (Dagenham, Slough) as required

Comply with a full security checks to a minimum standard of BS7858:2012

Ability to work remotely as required

Be highly conscientious and organised

Self-motivated and self-starting

Excellent communication skills

Other skills that would be desirable are: 

Background in, or experience with, electrical, mechanical or controls engineering

Experience with Linux
